This Mad World..

…Just Got Madder?!

Who and…

Why Is…

…Tariq Geiger?

The book opens with exploring the past and how Tariq Geiger becomes the radioactive glowing man, but…

…whoever is narrating this story begins to tell the story of Las Vegas.

We see how when getting into Las Vegas you need to be decontaminated as the United States has been devastated by a short nuclear war as seen last issue.

Last issue appears to have been set in past or this issue leaps forward, but nonetheless the Camelot casino’s boy king mural now has the glowing man on it.

We then meet Camelot casino waitress Carolina who we learn is down on her luck in this oppressive place where her 16 year old daughter will conscripted into the bar life of her mother or something far worse alluded to be prostitution.

The two visitors to Las Vegas we saw earlier in the issue take a bag to Hazz Warhead, the boy king’s chief henchman, as “money” to bet with; Hazz wins, but Carolina has stolen the bag when they were all busy playing yet the bartender still saw her nick the bag.

Carolina hurries home to collect her kids Hallie and Henry.

The bag appears to continue monies and a nuclear football, which in modern is the President of the United States’ briefcase with the nuclear launch codes; Carolina gives instructions to her kids to head to Norad as its still government controlled and gives her a pass for the elevator, keys to someone’s car among other travel and escape necessities.

The bartender sold Carolina out as Hazz and his henchmen breakdown her door looking for the bag.

The kids hide, mom is impaled and the kids are found, but…

…escape due to their quick wits.

They put in hazmat suits and find the car…

…escaping into the Nevada radioactive desert and attacked by nuclear mutated spiders.

They must escape the damaged car and as they flee a nuclear fallout two-head dog attacks the spiders and not far behind is the dog’s owner…

…Tariq Geiger.

He makes quick work of these spiders and a mutated scorpion as he asks the kids for reading material?!

We pivot back to the Camelot casino where the boy kind wants that bag that he calls his holy grail as…

…we learn the terrible price he paid in his past confrontation with Geiger.

The book ends with the boy king and his henchmen arriving at the Manhattan casino looking for…

…its proprietor Miss Bordon who greets them, but is not pleased to see them.

The book ends with more…

…information on Tariq Geiger transformation into the glowing man plus…

…as tease of Geiger #3 that hits stands on June 9, 2021.

The Pulse:

An intrigue issue that was light on Geiger, but heavy on world building. Lots of action and intrigue in a fast-paced issue. Amazing art. Every entertaining and accessible for a new series. 9 out of 10.
