Boom Studios and BRZKR #3 Spoilers and Review follows.

Keanu Reeves’ Berzerker…

…Has Immortal Past…

…Unveiled and It’s…

…Uncontrollably Bloody!

We open with a creators’ credits page.

So, it all began centuries ago.

A boy becomes a man in two years; a gift from the gods exploited by his father yet encouraged by his mother.

Looks like father is using son for some sort of manifest destiny quest instead of truly just protecting their people and land.

More land and other peoples are conquered.

Even one where his father said they were strong.

However, he conquers its ruler and its people as his father said no one should live; did he go too far?

His mother wants all this to end as does the son.

One more battle…

…ends like the rest.

This seems to be a story told by the Berzerker to his therapist is modern day where the lightning noted in the story may have some significance.

He’s come back from a successful mission in modern day, but he killed 4 of his comrades by accident as they got too close to him in the heat of battle; yikes.

The Pulse:

I’m a sucker for stories of an immortal’s past which this issue delivers almost fully with the except of the last two pages. However that last page is powerful within the modern day context. Berserker is still uncontrollable even with his modern day meds. This is a dark story about the destructive and weaponizing impulses of political leaders in the past and present. 8 out of 10.
