DC Comics and Crime Syndicate #5 Spoilers and Review follows.

Penultimate Issue Sees A MAJOR Death and…

…A HUGE Debut!

Johnny Quick is seemingly killed in a battle between the Crime Syndicate and the Legion of Justice when turncoat Emerald Knight kills him seemingly by accident.

Owlman, Ultraman and Superwoman survey the damage from the boldness of the Legion of Justice as…

…as an angry and grieving Atomica wonders where they were during the fight; fear not though, Owlman has a plan.

That plan is an attack on the Legion’s orbital base and…

…repatriate Quick’s body as part of the carnage.

Ultraman attacks Alexander Luthor…

…only to be stopped by his debuting cousin Ultragirl!

Not to be mistaken for Marvel’s Ultragirl who had her own three issue mini-series in 1996.

Here is that unrelated character’s Who’s Who type bio from the 2006 All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe.

DC Comics debuted an Earth 3 Ultragirl in 2008’s Countdown to Final Crisis #16.

Her last appearance was Countdown to Final Crisis #15 (that series counted backwards) as part of a battle.

The Pulse:

Crime Syndicate #5 was another fun read on story, but the art continues to be an acquired taste. An ok issue that is redeemed somewhat by the cliffhanger. 5.5 out of 10.
