Wally West Struggles With Trauma Of Heroes In Crisis!

Plus Real Villain Exposed!

The  book does its best to channel the truly awful 2018 Heroes in Crisis event including a therapy page of nine panels this time for Wally West.

You may recall Heroes in Crisis made Wally West a mass murderer due to his pre-Flashpoint memories flooding back and the realization he no longer had a family among other painful realizations; so, her killed loads of DC characters seeking mental health treatment at the Justice League’s Sanctuary including his long-time friend Roy Harper aka Arsenal at this point.

Back in the present, Oliver Queen Green Lantern hears Roy Harper’s voice and wants the Flashes and Mister Terrific to save him from his Heroes in Crisis fate.

Back in the past, Wally and Roy are confronted by the real villain behind this first Infinite Frontier arc and perhaps Heroes in Crisis…

…Savitar in a new costume for a new era.

Wally does not have enough power to take down Savitar so…

…Roy uses a light arrow to distract the villain surmising he can’t run faster than light.

We then see how Savitar returned from the dead and what he’s been doing to the Speed Force.

It looks like the present day heroes advising Wally tell him he needs to get back into the Speed Force to end this; that causes Roy to step into action even saying a few words to his “dad” Oliver Queen in the present.

Roy knew that by restarting time his fate was sealed, but he did for the greater good.

That leads to Savitar and Wally West getting dropped in the present via the Speed Force.

Savitar tests his new Speed Force powers on the Justice League who is able to go toe-to-toe with simultaneously as…

…a weakened Barry Allen Flash needs Wally West to take on the Flash costume, so he’s no longer naked, and best Savitar!

Well, Wally West looks to quite adept in the Speed Force and…

…defeats Savitar who is sucked back into it!

After a long nap, Wally West makes amends with Green Arrow and rejoins his now alive family as…

…he races into more stories in the ongoing Flash series.

Flash #772 lands on July 21, 2021 as the series races to its milestone Flash #775 issues in October 2021.

The Pulse:

An explosive end to the first Infinite Frontier arc of the Flash that saw Wally West replace Barry Allen in the titular role.  Enjoyed the revisit of the truly awful Heroes in Crisis storyline so we can get some closure with Roy Harper and Wally West as well as give Roy a more heroic ending, which as we know from this week’s other comics, wasn’t an ending. Solid art throughout this book with a decent platoon for them of past vs. present. I get why Wally West gets a classic Flash costume to end, but I was hoping for something slightly different and inspired by the original costume. We’ll see what the future holds. 8 out of 10.
