Sketch 60 Of 60 For DC Comics Publisher Jim Lee Art Auction To Help Comic Book Retailors Hurt By Covid-19 Coronavirus Pandemic! Iconic Batman Hush Jason Todd Robin Redesign!

Blurb.

Here it is—finally! The last sketch of the 60 for 60 sketches that extended -ahem- well over a year. The plan was always to time the completion of the project to when the pandemic was over. The goal was to inject aid to the comic shop ecosystem, and I’m endlessly grateful to the other comic book professionals who stood up and graciously donated their time, energy and talent to create and bolster my charitable contributions. Could not have done it without them as their work inspired and drove my own.

Initially I thought for sure 60 days would be plenty of time for the world to get a handle on this crisis but that estimate was ridiculously short sighted as time and history continue to bear out. Even now, the pandemic continues to rage on in parts of the world and the end seems tragically just out of reach…

Moreover, there was great social upheaval, political discord and unrest which overwhelmed my focus and sapped my creative drive and energies as I felt paralyzed and despondent by the crises that dominated 2020. But now I’m done with my original commitment. If 2020 taught me any life lessons—which it has in many direct and profound ways—is that we cannot stand complacent and that our actions (above all) count and can make a collective difference. I am thankful to have a talent which I can use to help make a small difference. Even though this is the last sketch of 60–I remain confident and excited for the future. This is not the end but merely the beginning.

Jason Todd from Batman: Hush was one of the big reveals during my year long run on Batman with Jeph Loeb. He was chosen by Gary Dauberman who was the high bidder on the Gotham by Gaslight Batman. This version of Jason Todd as resurrected villain struck a chord with many Batman fans, and I’m proud to close this fundraising campaign with such a personal piece. 9×12” on illustration board, this pen and ink with whiteout piece is only a 3 day auction with proceeds benefiting comic shops in need via nonprofit org BINC.

Thank you all for following this campaign, supporting the auctions and making it reach heights I never dreamed possible. It shows the levels of positivity and generosity our community and business are capable of and will remain undoubtedly one of the highlights of my career.

Art.

To bid on this beauty head over to eBay. After one year and four month this philanthropy effort is ending, Jim Lee signaled there may be more to come, so, stay tuned. Jim Lee’s first auction in this effort began in April 2020 with this gem. All 60 of Jim Lee’s auction pieces are accessible here. He also had artist friends contribute to the auction efforts which are available here. These auctions with Jim Lee and his friends have raised well over $1 million to support struggling comic book retailors.
