Alan Moore’s The Show comes to Blu-ray & Digital

Alan Moore has been notorious in not liking film adaptations of his work. He was not a fan of Watchmen, V for Vendetta or From Hell. But he does not hate cinema. In fact he not only wrote a script for The Show, but he has a role. The Show takes us on a supernatural tour of Moore’s hometown of Northampton. Fletcher Dennis arrives in town looking for a man only to discover this isn’t a simple case. We’ve already review the film from when played theaters in the summer. Fletcher Dennis (Burke), a man of many talents, passports and identities, arrives in Northampton – a strange and haunted town in the heart of England as dangerous as he is. On a mission to locate a stolen artifact for his menacing client, Fletcher finds himself entangled in a twilight world populated with vampires, sleeping beauties, Voodoo gangsters, noir private eyes, and masked avengers. He quickly sinks into a bizarre and delirious black hole, that is hidden just beneath the surface of this seemingly quiet town. Soon enough Fletcher discovers that dreams and reality have been blurred and there might no longer be a real world to go back to…Welcome to The Show.

About Alan Moore
Alan Moore, born in Northampton in 1953, is a writer, performer, recording artist, activist and magician. His comic-book work includes Lost Girls (2009) with Melinda Gebbie, From Hell (1991) with Eddie Campbell and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (for which he won a Bram Stoker Award in 2000) with Kevin O’Neill. He has worked with director Mitch Jenkins on the Show Pieces cycle of short films and on forthcoming feature film The Show, while his novels include Voice of the Fire (1996) and his epic Jerusalem (2016). He lives in Northampton with his wife and collaborator Melinda Gebbie. 

About Mitch Jenkins
Northampton native Mitch Jenkins, then shooting music videos for post-punk bands on the Beggar’s Banquet label, was commissioned to shoot comic book legend Alan Moore for Q magazine in 1986, which lead to a friendship and creative partnership the pair share to this day. Mitch spent much of his career as lead celebrity photographer for The Times Magazine and The Sunday Times Magazine, shooting high-profile covers of everyone from David Bowie to Kobe Bryant. In 2011, Mitch began work, directing a series of short films written by Alan Moore. These short films were released as a compendium under the name Show Pieces (2014) and were a precursor to their debut feature film THE SHOW. Mitch Jenkins lives in Northampton and is presently finishing his second feature.
