DC Comics and Checkmate #4 Spoilers and Review follows.

Is Daemon Rose Really Lois Lane’s Surprise Brother?

Superman’s New Brother-In-Law?!

The book opens with a storyline catch-up, dramatis personae (of sorts) and creators credits page.

Mark Shaw, villain turned hero turned megalomaniac seems to be genetically altering some of his followers as well as brainwashing them under Leviathan’s rule.

At the same time, Lois Lane knows that Shaw is after the Heroes Network; that’s the secure and one-time confidential communication and I&IT system between the Hall of Justice, Fortress of Solitude and Batcave.

We also find a birth certificate that reveals Daemon Rose as Leonardo Lane whose father is Samuel Lane, but his mother is redacted as is other information; so he is Lois’ brother and Superman’s brother-in-law!

Leviathan brings the fight to Checkmate to end the issue…

…in grand fashion!

Next up is Checkmate #5 (of 6) out on October 26, 2021 with Daemon Rose on the main cover.

The Pulse:

Lots of intrigue and action through solid art, but way too may dense word balloons. Still entertaining and intriguing though. Awesome variant cover. 7 out of 10.
