Impact Wrestling Tried To Have More Former WWE Wrestlers Debut At Bound For Glory 2021, But Couldn’t Close The Deals… Yet?!

Report: IMPACT Wrestling Reached Out To Multiple Former WWE Stars For Bound For Glory

IMPACT Wrestling delivered a memorable Bound For Glory show on October 23, but many fans were surprised by the absence of major debuts or surprise appearances on Saturday night. Previous reports indicated that the promotion was in talks with several free agents, with some stating that former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman (Adam Scherr) was expected to debut at the show.

Instead, Bound For Glory came and went without any stunning arrivals, but this outcome reportedly can’t be blamed on a lack of trying.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, IMPACT indeed attempted to bring in former WWE stars Strowman, Bray Wyatt and Bronson Reed, now going by Jonah Rock. Ross Sapp notes that even some of the talent expected Scherr to appear at the show, but the two sides haven’t agreed on a contract yet.

As for Wyatt, his non-compete clause following his WWE release isn’t up until October 31, so he was never a viable option for Bound For Glory. Meanwhile, the company booked Rock, a former NXT North American Champion, for the show on Saturday, but this debut was “cancelled for unknown reasons.”
