Spoilers

DC Comics and Checkmate #5 Spoilers and Review follows.

Lois Lane’s NEW Brother Looks EXACTLY Like…

…Superman Son Of Kal-El?!

The book includes a storyline catch-up, dramatis personae and creator credits page.

In addition, the story itself includes a storyline catch-up page and…

…a dramatis personae in action!

Leviathan has transported Checkmate’s secret base, all of it, to Thailand where it collapses!

Damian Wayne Robin understands everyone’s role on Checkmate except for Mr. King; well he shows them what he can do.

Elsewhere, Sam Lane’s son Leo Lane aka Daemon Rose meets his 1/2 sister Lois Lane and they’re on the run.

Looks like Mr. King’s special ability includes creating doors and being able to transport people and things which allows Checkmate to get from Thailand to the basement of the Justice League’s Hall of Justice HQ in the United States quickly; Kate Spencer volunteers to kill her Manhunter predecessor Mark Shaw who is the head of Leviathan.

As they’re talking, the lights in the Hall of Justice turn off and Talia Al Ghul appears to turn on the team or does she really think this blackout helps Checkmate against Leviathan?

The book begins to end with Lois Lane commenting that Daemon Rose looks exactly like hers and Superman’s son Conner Kent a former Superboy and the current Superman: Son of Kal-el.

Well, Mark Shaw hasn’t forgotten he once used to hunt the world’s most dangerous game and confronts Daemon Rose directly with Lois Lane a bonus prize or obstacle?

The Pulse:

Another mixed bag of an issue, but I feel business picked up more in this penultimate effort in this mini-series. Still intrigued by Mr. King and Daemon Rose, but still upset that Mark Shaw is now a megalomaniac and that the classic Checkmate agent mask and costume remain MIA. Overall, am entertaining issue. 7 out of 10.
