DC Comics and Action Comics #1046 Spoilers and Review follows.
Superman and The Authority Kick Off A Promised Epic!
However, Which Superman Is It?!
The Warworld Saga begins and its being teased as being a consequential to the Superman mythos as the 1992/93 Death and Return of Superman.
We meet the Authority team that is aiding Superman as they arrive at Warworld and floating torture chamber and graveyard in its orbit…
…as well on-world!
The dead are branded with Superman’s symbol.
That puts Superman in a position to try to debunk the fake news about that symbol and what these people endure.
However, Warworld’s leader Mongul has its acolytes.
An mysterious and…
…dangerous crew.
In fact, Superman is either aged or succumbs to his radiation poisoning leaving him to appear to look like his Golden Age counterpart; white streak in his hair too.
The book’s main story ends with Mongul ready to confront Superman.
There’s also a back-up story involving the Guardian…
…who is different than the Guardians that works for Leviathan in the Checkmate mini-series.
The Pulse:
A slow start but I am intrigued. I feel like the chess pieces are set in the main story and intrigued by what’s next. Decent art on both stories, but the tone of back-up was lighter than main story; a bit jarring of a transition. 7 out of 10.
