The Pulse:
I’ll start with the last thing first; that back-up tale is so jarring and out-of-place with the main story both on art and story. Not a good editorial selection of that tale.
The main story is action-packed, befitting the series’ title, and has an element of political intrigue I enjoyed seeing. A bit too dark and bloody for my liking, but those moments advanced the story.
This is DC’s promised Superman an epic. 7 out of 10 on the strength of the main story and its art alone.
