The Lazarus demon rises! The deadly end of the League of Lazarus is at hand! Countless fighters have fallen! And now, to save everyone on Lazarus Island, Damian must go one-on-one with a literal giant demon. Can Damian utilize everything he’s learned in the tournament, or will he die for the last time?

The book opens with Damian Wayne’s great grandmother Mother Soul getting readers caught up on what’s happened to get us to where we are.

The Lazarus Demon, seemingly sprung from or conjoined with Connor Hawke’s soul, proves too much for Robin.

We then have Damian mentored by the soul of Alfred Pennyworth; he compares the origin of his father Bruce Wayne (here, here, here and here), but the upset is that the Batman became more effective and successful when he knew to ask for help hence his extended super-hero Bat family.

So, he masks up using his blood, quite literally, and works to hand the Lazarus fighters together.

They are inspired to do so and…

…together taken the Lazarus Demon returning Connor Hawke’s soul to him.

Mother Soul is enraged and somehow appears to send Robin into the past where he meets his grandfather as a younger man?!

The Pulse:

A rip-roaring issue that when one door closes another one opens with a bigger surprise. Solid art and intriging story. 8.5 out of 10.
