The Lazarus Tournament has ended, but Mother Soul is not going down without a fight! As Damian Wayne battles for the fate of his family line, a last-ditch effort by an unlikely ally will lead to a major power shift in the DCU! It’s Robin versus his hyper-powerful great-grandmother in a battle so gripping you’ll need an extra butterscotch candy from her little dish to make it through!

The book opens in the past it’s not real as Mother Soul notes that she can help the Demon family see their past.

Damian Wayne is the son of Batman and Talia Al Ghul and through her mother’s side is part of the Demon lineage.

We see more of the Ra’s Al Ghul’s past through his mother’s narration.

Including his quest to revive Mother Soul after she died.

It worked, but she came back changed.

Her mind was broken believing there was a demon in the Lazarus Pit and that the world needed to be destroyed to be reborn.

Father thought is mother was mad and we learn of the founding of the:

  • League of Shadows
  • League of Assassins
  • League of Lazarus

This led to war between father and son…

…requiring the son to use magic to stop his mother.

We then learn about the every 100 year Lazarus Island champions contest and…

…finally great grandmother passes her Demon madness to Robin!

However, he is unaffected by it and now knowing what her play was, makes his, and…

…ends their battle of will and they both awake in the real world.

She believes that he must help her destroy the world so the Demon can live, but…

…her son and his daughter Talia, also Robin’s mother, and more are ready to fight her and her hordes.

The Pulse:

Another loaded issue that is surprisingly accessible for all that’s going on. Decent cliffhanger. Solid art. Entertaining from front to back. 8 out of 10.
