As a parent, Sesame Street offers a chance to introduce your child to more than letters and numbers. One of the big thing you probably remember from your time on the Street is the classic song about the “People In Your Neighborhood.” The show has maintained this element over the decade of getting kids familiar to the various occupations of people that are necessary to keep your neighborhood a happy place. The show gives little details about what person does in the job so a preschooler can grasp. It’s not so much a career day as setting expectations of what people do for a living. Sesame Street – Elmo’s World: All Around The Neighborhood will let your kid understand what’s going on around town without leaving the living room.

The episodes of Elmo’s World appear to have been collected from the HBO version of the series since they have the new openings. The episodes featured are Doctor: Monster Edition, Machines, Sports, People, Maps and Measuring: Monster Edition! Helping Elmo along in his crayon drawn world is Smartie, the talking smartphone. He provides a series of video clips showing people, kids and pets doing things around the neighborhood. There’s also a visit from the Noodle family with Bill Irwin, Daniel Koren and Ilana Glazer from (Broad City) as the miming family. The Monster Edition means you get Grover and other furry friends dropping by to work with Elmo on answering the topic. There are little games that your kids can play along to see if they understand the topics.

Sesame Street really is a neighborhood so it’s a fun place for a preschooler to grasp the concept of what people do for an occupation. And your kids will be relieved that nobody in their neighborhood is a Social Media Influencer or future Tik-Tok star. People really have to work for a living on the Street.

The Video is 1.78:1 anamorphic. Your screen will be covered in Muppet furt. The audio is Dolby Digital Stereo 2.0. Things sound good for little ears. The episodes are subtitled in English and Spanish. This is good is you want your kid to get a jump on learning a second language by reading the words.

When You’re A Vet (10:16) is a Sesame Street clip where Oscar’s pet worm is acting strange. They have to take Slimey to the vet. Tiffany Haddish plays the vet.

Walking the Dog (9:41) is a regular show segment with Grover getting yanked by the leashes at his new job.

People in Your Neighborhood: Engineer (5:02) gets into the profession. They learn how an engineer build houses.

People In Your Neighborhood: 50th Edition (2:41) has smooth and funky Nile Rodgers (Chic) sing along with Grover.

Grover’s Job Mashup (2:29) lets you see all his various gigs over the decades.

Elmo’s World: Doctors (17:11) is the old version of the segment. This time we meet the doctor’s without so many other monsters around the world. Big Bird does drop by along with a Ducktor. Dorothy the goldfish is there.
