“Abyss” part three! The new Batman Inc.’s heinous crimes have landed them in a high-security prison. Batman believes the only way to help his old allies is to break them out…but they don’t want his help! Meanwhile, Batman Inc.’s mysterious benefactor uses the chaos to enact their plans, but finds themselves lost in the dark against Abyss!

Backup: The mysterious disappearances being investigated by Maps and Batman take a violent turn…Could this missing persons case be something much darker?

Batman has been blinded by Abyss in Badhnisia.

Batman has an ally who helps him deal with the fact that Abyss somehow blinded him.

Elsewhere, Lex Luthor is supportive of the world needing a Batman, but he doesn’t need to be Bruce Wayne.

In fact, Lex Luthor thinks he should be Batman and dons his gear as…

…Abyss attacks.

Batman is trying to figure out his blackened blindness and wonders if tech is involved.

Well, sight or no night, he is in Badhnisia to free Batman Incorporated from prison one that Lex Luthor financed?!

He breaks into the jail, but…

…Batman Inc. want nothing to do with the OG Batman and their work with Lex Luthor isn’t about his money, but some kind of mission.

In fact, Batman Inc. actually turn on Batman and get into fisticuffs.

However, it is all for one and one for all when the prison guards in riot gear look to bring back order.

Batman is attacked and Lex Luthor arrives?! Turns out it appears Abyss is not who he / she says they are and all they want is the two of them.

Looks like Batman Inc. duped Lex Luthor for his money and are actually led by Abyss who wants to take out or kill Lex Luthor with Batman’s help!

The back-up continues with…

…Maps Mizoguchi the seventh Robin to Batman in current recognized continuity.

The Pulse:

An action-packed and intriguing main story. The twists and turns were captivating and, as a long time reader of comics, I was genuinely surprised by that last page. The art on both book’s stories were solid too. 8 out of 10.
