THIS ISSUE…A HERO DIES!

Doctor Multiverse discovers there is a threat greater than Darkseid! Is the Justice League Incarnate’s only option to work with the Lord of Apokolips? Meanwhile, on Earth-7, Orion and Aquawoman lead the rest of the team to gain control of the Oblivion Engine! But by the time this issue is over…a member of Justice League Incarnate meets their end!

Building on the revelation of the definitive history of the Infinite Frontier of 85 years of publishing history in this issue (full spoilers here) the main story advances in this penultimate issue.

The heroes need to let Darkseid’s plan unfold.

He’s the only one who can stop the Great Darkness.

The Flashpoint Batman is possessed by the Great Darkness and is seemingly killed by Darkseid’s all-powerful Omega Beams.

Darkseid actually steals Doctor Multiverse’s power to…

…attempt to kill the Great Darkness, but…

…it seems to lead to Darkseid’s death too?!

The book ends with several JLU members and Orion, Darkseid’s son, all possessed by the Great Darkness descending on Doctor Multiverse.

The Pulse:

A compelling issue story-wise. Art-wise, the first part by Chris Burnham was a fun take for such a serious story. The second half of the book by a different penciler was not as dynamic. Intrigued by what’s to come in next month’s final issue. 7 out of 10.
