AEW Has A Talent Budget and Salary Cap That Guides Their Hiring and Contract Renewal Decisions!

Now, that headline would normally be a no-brainer for any company, but considering how AEW has spent monies since its inception in 2019 including in stacking their roster, and not using many after more big names have been signed, many wondered if AEW founder Tony Khan had no budget at all.

Well, Wrestling Observer have spilled some tea about this.

  • AEW has a high salary cap to be able to compete with WWE.
  • AEW is letting many contracts expire due to recent bigger name gets.
  • Two WWE superstars tried to get big money deals from AEW, but they were not give huge offers due to their budget.
  • Adam Cole is said to be making a lot more than he would have had he re-signed with WWE.

  • Bryan Danielson has a several million dollar contract.
  • AEW’s TV deal is up for renewal in 2024 and if they get more monies, which is expected, that would go to raising their budget to attract more big name talent.

Some of these are normally no-brainer statements, but interesting this is coming out as Brandi and Cody Rhodes exit AEW seemingly for WWE. Some are speculating that AEW was not able to give the duo what they felt they were worth and they left AEW.
