It’s all come down to this! As their lives are literally tumbling down around them, the Titans must contend with the betrayal of their most troubled student—who has just unmasked themselves as Red X—plus a familiar face from deep in their darkest days, determined to exact an unholy vengeance upon Nightwing. In the end, after the epic collision of past, present, and future, who and what of Teen Titans Academy will still be standing?

With Titans Tower destroyed, Red X seemingly behind it all, but somewhat regretful, is unmasked as student Brick Pettirosso.

Brick first debuted in Teen Titans Academy #1 (full spoilers here), and was voted as having “best hair” in the recent Teen Titans Academy 2021 Yearbook (full spoilers here); Brick seemingly believes he’s Nightwing’s son and needs to save the students from being radicalized and weaponized like Batman did to his Robins.

Well, it turns out the elder Red X, who also received a spotlight in the Teen Titans Academy 2021 Yearbook #1, not only is he the one who assumed the Red X identity after Nightwing originated it and held it for a time, is also the one that radicalized Brick Pettirosso.

That includes lying to him that Nightwing was his father; in fact red X doesn’t know who Brick Pettirosso’s are and…

…also has no more need for the boy?!

He kills Brick, fights Nightwing who seems to know, and escapes.

The team mourns Brick who apologizes as…

…he takes his last breath.

Looks like hunting down and “killing” the right Red X appears to be on the agenda as…

…the Teen Titans Academy is set to be reborn.

Next up is The War for Earth 3 x-over.

The Pulse:

An interesting turn of events with one Red X unmasked and killed with another continuing to torment Nightwing and the Teen Titans Academy. I wonder if they will reveal thus Red X’s identity before the series is cancelled. Action-packed and emotional story with ok art. 7.5 out of 10.
