Only Yesterday and The Tale of Princess Kaguya SteelBook editions arrive in April

Studio Ghibli has become synonymous with director Hayao Miyazaki. While his work might be the first time you associate with the Japanese animation studio, Miyazaki wasn’t the only director at the animation powerhouse. Director Isao Takahata co-founded the studio and eventually created five films. Two of his film will be coming out in SteelBook editions on April 19, 2002. Only Yesterday has a single woman reconsider her life during a trip to the countryside. The Tale of The Princess Kaguya is about a tiny girl found inside a special bamboo plant. The movie was Oscar nominated.

Studio Ghibli and GKIDS, with distribution by Shout! Factory, will release Only Yesterday and The Tale of The Princess Kaguya, from the beloved Studio Ghibli library of films, on April 19, 2022 in limited edition SteelBook packaging with striking new art. Only Yesterday will be available as a Blu-ray & DVD combo pack, and The Tale of The Princess Kaguya is a 1 DVD / 2 Blu-ray package. To complement the film, each SteelBook also includes hours of bonus features and a booklet with stunning art, as well as statements from the filmmakers. 

With this release, two additional films from the Studio Ghibli universe now also have their very own limited edition SteelBook versions for the first time in North America.
