“The Gold Lantern Saga” part two! Who is the Gold Lantern? And what does his power source have to do with the Great Darkness? Is the Gold Lantern everything it promises to be? The Justice League and Legion of Super-Heroes team up and travel to each other’s time periods to unravel the mysteries that have led them to the precipice of this Great Darkness.

The issue opens with a bit more on the unveiling of LOSH’s Gold Lantern aka Kala Lour’s origins from one year before the Legion of Super-Heroes was founded.

Then in modern day we get a recap of what happened in this mini-series’ first issue from the Gold Lantern’s perspective as he’s stuck in 2022 with a Great Darkness anomaly!

The Justice League in turn are stuck in the future with the LOSH also dealing with the Great Darkness anomaly.

We then get more of Gold Lantern’s origin and…

…his conflict over accepting the Golden Lantern ring along with its responsibilities as the first such Lantern ringbearer.

In modern day and in the future…

…the Great Darkness anomaly is in sight, but…

…still a mystery that allows the Golden Lantern to communicate with the future, but the future does not look bright.

The Pulse:

A fun issue that feels epic and seems to intent on establishing the Golden Lantern as an important super-hero for tomorrow and today. I remain curious how this ties into DC Comics’ other Great Darkness event in Dark Crisis, but I trust those answers will come. Solid art too. An entertaining read. 8.5 out of 10.
