DC Comics Spoils New Justice League and More For Dark Crisis Event! Spoilers!

CBR reports.

Dark Crisis sees Pariah — a key character from Marv Wolfman and George Pérez’s seminal 1985 Crisis on Infinite Earths story — harnessing the power of the Great Darkness. Those left behind following the death of the Justice League will then have to stand against this new threat. Still, not everyone is willing to join the fight. There will be two prologues to the event: Dark Crisis #0 FCBD Special Edition and Justice League: Road to Dark Crisis #1, release on May 7 and May 31, respectively.

The variant covers for Dark Crisis #1 confirm just who will take over for the Justice League following the death of so many members. Mahmud Asrar’s Team Variant, in particular, shows a good look at the group, which consists of Jon Kent/Superman, Yara Flor/Wonder Woman, Sojourner “Jo” Mullein/Green Lantern, Jackson Hyde/Aquaman and Tim Fox/Batman.

Speaking about the event in its original announcement, [Writer Joshua] Williamson said Dark Crisis was an event about legacy. However, he noted that Dark Crisis isn’t “about reboots, retcons, or rewriting time and space. At its core it’s about the characters and the relationships that we’ve seen built over DC’s great history.”

You can see CBR’s exclusive look at the variant covers for Dark Crisis #1 [above and] below.

The covers are… by Asrar, InHyuk Lee, Dan Schoening, Steve Beach, Bruno Redondo, Greg Capullo and Jonathan Glapion, Jamal Campbell.

There is an additional 1:100 foil variant of Capullo and Glapion’s cover.

A seven-issue event, Dark Crisis #1 releases in June.

The standard cover for the first issue is slated to cost $5.99, while the above card stock variants have a retail price of $6.99.
