As smart and ruthless as Wilson Fisk may be, he’s chosen to enlist the aid of some of the most reprehensible, dangerous and bloodthirsty criminals the Marvel Universe has to offer! He’s been able to keep them on a short leash out of fear for weeks. IN THIS ISSUE — that fear runs out! Fisk’s lackeys aren’t scared of ANYTHING anymore, even him — and ALL OF NEW YORK is left to pay the price!

In case you’re worried that there is a major spoiler in the title of this piece, said spoiler was spoiled by Marvel last week and after reading this week’s issue I can understand why they didn’t mind it getting out last week.

The NYC Mayor Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin remembers that Matt Murdock is the Daredevil after using the Purple Man’s power via his bejeweled walking stick.

The action of the issue begins as Fisk’s Thunderbolts take into custody the Purple Man’s kids, but they’re confronted by the teenage Champions.

Looks like the Thunderbolts have upped their power with the addition of Hulk villain the Abomindation and the Champions are easily dispatched.

The issue also sees Kingpin turn on Doctor Octopus and his Superior Four multiversal team as he sets the Purple Man free to cause chaos.

The Purple kids are with the super-heroes and they want their dad dead, but…

…Daredevil won’t have that kind of talk.

Next up is a slugfest including the Thunderbolts, the Superior Four and the Avengers as an umbrella for all the super-heroes.

However, the Purple Man also wants to get into the action with his purple powered mind-controlled flock.

The book ends with the Kingpin laying in wait and confronting Matt Murdock physically over his Daredevil “ruse”.

However, it’s not Matt, but Mike Murdock unknowingly in Kingpin’s crosshairs, but not for long as Mike is seemingly killed by the Mayor of New York City!

Next up is the series finale in Devil’s Reign #6 in stores on April 6, 2022.

However, the book gets a one-shot called Devil’s Reign: Omega #1 which is on shelves on May 18, 2022.

The Pulse:

There’s a lot going on this issue, but it doesn’t feel disjointed despite the handful of pages each story beta git. Gut wrenching ending, but not a surprising bait and switch. Solid art throughout. 7.5 out of 10.
