Wes Craven’s Cursed coming in May from Scream Factory

Disc Announcements, News

Sometimes a movie’s title will prove to be ominous. Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson teamed up in the late ’90s for Scream. The horror film became a sensation. It once more juiced up Craven’s career and established Williamson as a force in filmmaking. Miramax was eager to reunite the duo and once more scare audience across the globe. People were eager to see what they would do with a werewolf themed movie. Production turned out quite bumpy with the shooting shut down for a while and actors replaced. Miramax had Rick Baker fired from doing the werewolf effects. It felt like a cursed film. Making matters more frustrating was Harvey and Bob Weinstein decided to snip the film from an R Rating to PG-13. The film didn’t have the same impact as Scream when it was finally released in 2005. Scream Factory is releasing Cursed in both theatrical and an unrated cut. The Unrated Cut should transform the movie into a beast with sharper teeth. The Unrated cut doesn’t feature the original actors. But it does restore snips made by Harvey Weinstein. Here’s the press release from Scream Factory:
