All the hunters converge on the Sampson estate as the brutal conclusion to the first “season” of The Joker is here! Bullets will fly, blood will be shed, and will James Gordon be forced to make the choice he’s been dreading since issue #1?

Punchline Backup: Punchline walks free, and the Royal Flush Gang is desperate for a new queen. The underworld of Gotham City is going to change forever, and this last chapter of “Punchline” is only the beginning.

The previous cannibal family plot is concluded and summarized for media reporting James Gordan is interrogated.

While he gets asked about Bane and Vengeance, they really want to know where the Joker is and whether Gordan killed him.

We then flashback to the end of last issue with Bane revealing himself and stopping his daughter Vengeance from killing the Joker as James Gordon looks on.

We have a family feud that…

…allows Gordon to whisk the Joker away.

We then learn why Gordan’s benefactor is even here and we learn of her motivations that reach back all the way to the old Talon series.

It all involves overthrowing the Court of Owls.

We then see that Gordan has a decision to make and it make actually include offing the Joker?!

The main story ends in Gotham City with Batman confronting Gordan asking where the Joker is.

The back-up tale focuses on Punchline, but…

…with no Bluebird to see this time.

While this issue was supposed to the series finale, those plans changed and the back-up Punchline tale concludes, but next up is the series finale in Joker #15 in stores on June 14, 2022.

The Clown Prince of Crime had one more trick up his sleeve—a thrilling, surprise final issue! How did Gordon escape Texas? What happened to Bane and Vengeance? Did The Joker get the last laugh? Find out!

The Pulse:

Another rip-roaring Twin Peaks or Big Sky kind of story in the best and macabre ways. Which end is up? Solid characterization, intriguing suspense and frenetic action all rendered beautifully on the main story. The back-up was a bit confusing, but it was pretty. 8 out of 10.
