ASTRO CITY returns with an all-new special! Who were the Jayhawks? How did they inspire five teen sidekicks looking for answers to hit the road in a rickety crime mobile in 1969? And how will this affect Astro City in the present? This one-shot special features new and existing heroes and launches a mystery that will drive the forthcoming ASTRO CITY series. And don’t miss the ASTRO CITY METROBOOK, collecting the first three years of the acclaimed series!

In terms of the main story it focuses on the late 1960’s after both Martin Luthor King Jr. and Bobby Kennedy were assassinated in 1968, April 4 and June 6 respectively.

A team of teen titans named the Jayhawks gave their lives in battle around that time too and are mourned by their fellow super-heroes.

In modern day, the Samaritan feels a sense of foreboding.

He also has a sense that things are too predictable and cyclical and that things need to change.

There is a coming darkness teased before Samaritan goes off top foil a crime as the literal spirits of the Jayhawk look on?!

Then we get a message from co-creator Kurt Busiek.

That includes a mention that before more Astro City tales we’ll be getting The Gods Of Sunday Morning which get a bit of sneak peek, teaser and preview.

No word on when that one-shot will be released.
