“BANNER OF WAR” PART TWO!

The 60th Anniversary celebration — and Thor and Hulk’s epic rivalry — continues in the second installment of the crossover between the HULK and THOR series! Banner’s newfound control of his rage is prolonging this fight more than Thor expected, and with Banner holding his own, Thor must get creative. Odin’s breakthrough look into Banner’s psyche seems to slow the violence, but will it be enough?
Additionally, new creators to the THOR title bring glimpses into the possible futures of Thor and his friends!

56 PGS./Rated T+ …$5.99

The Avengers have finally found the Hulk.

They’ve been after him for what happened in El Paso as they see him now to be a mass murderer.

Iron Man plans to go after the Hulk, but Captain America orders him not to.

Well, we all know how that was going to end; with Iron Man going off after the Hulk and Captain America displeased about it or sulking depending on your POV.

Elsewhere, Odin is in Hulk’s head, in Starship Hulk quite literally, confronting its pilot Dr. Bruce Banner.

As the fight inside Starship Hulk occurs so does a fight outside with Thor.

That results in Odin and readers learning what happened in El Paso.

We get a flashback of sorts where Dr. Bruce Banner’s eyes turn black, seemingly possessed by his new persona Titan perhaps, as he becomes a Typhoid Mary as bar patrons in El Paso turn into Hulks and Banner appears to kill them all?!

Banner blames himself, since it appears that may have been Bruce Banner’s form not the Hulk’s form that was possessed to do this vile deed.

As the battle outside of Startship Hulk between Thor and the Hulk continues, Iron Man arrives with his Celestial Hulkbuster armor.

As this is a milestone issue we also get to two back-up tales by classic creators.

While entertaining, both do not seem to…

…be continued in modern day; just finite tales from Thor’s past.

The book ends with a tease of the next part of the crossover event along with the Banner of War checklist.

The Pulse:

I am more engaged and intrigued by this crossover than I thought I would be. Solid drama, characterization, action and intrigue. Amazing art and a compelling cliffhanger with that new Hulkbuster armor. A fun issue. 8.5 out of 10.
