The incredible true story of one courageous and resourceful man’s determination to overcome racial prejudices in 1970’s San Francisco, I’m Charlie Walker is a captivating tale of ingenuity amid overwhelming obstacles. Starring Mike Colter (Evil, Marvel’s Luke Cage) as trucking and construction entrepreneur Charlie Walker, the film opens in select theaters nationwide June 10 and stars Mike Colter, Dylan Baker, Safiya Fredericks, Mark Leslie Ford, Steven Wiig, Emma Caulfield Ford, Monica Barbaro, Travis Johns, Greg Cipes and Carl Lumbly. The film is also available on digital and On Demand on the same date on all major VOD platforms. SYNOPSIS: Based on a true story, Mike Colter stars as trucking and construction entrepreneur Charlie Walker. In 1971, two oil tankers violently collided off the San Francisco Coast spilling millions of gallons of crude oil creating an environmental disaster. Against all odds, Charlie was able to secure one of the most lucrative contracts to clean the coastline that threatened much of the San Francisco Bay. With only three trucks, an incredible work ethic and a whole lot of heart, the film recounts the racial discrimination Walker endured as he tries to save the coastline all while fighting institutional racism from the very company that hired him in the first place. Statement from Honorable Mayor Willie L. Brown, Jr. “I was a witness to Charlie Walker’s amazing story of grit and determination in the face of adversity as it unfolded in San Francisco back in 1971,” added the Honorable Mayor Willie L. Brown, Jr. “To finally see his triumphant life story hit the big screen with a major motion picture brings a huge smile to my face.” I’M CHARLIE WALKER | Shout!
