Larry Cohen made quite a few memorable films as a writer, director and producer. Black Caesar, Hell Up In Harlem, It’s Alive, Q and The Stuff. One of his wildest films is God Told Me To about a society breaking down. Lt. Peter J. Nicholas (Tony Lo Bianco) is investigating a rash of violence where the suspects excuse is that “Gold told me to.” What is going on? Are people being told by the Almighty to become murderers. The movie has remained a cult hit since it came out in 1976 including being a part of the prestigious Cinema Overdrive series in Raleigh, North Carolina.
