AEW Dynamite 9/7/22 Sees MJF Return Overshadowed By Backstage Chaos!
What should have been the big news after AEW All Out 2022 and AEW Dynamite 9/7/22 was planned to be the big return of MJF and his first address to AEW viewers.
While MJF did speak, more on that in a moment, it was all overshadowed by a backstage brawl after the AEW All Out 2022 press conference that saw big consequences:
- CM Punk stripped of the AEW World Heavyweight Championship
- The Elite (AEW Senior VPs Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks) stripped of the AEW World Trios Championships
- All four seemingly suspended as well as a few others
- CM Punk deal with a legit injury either from the brawl or from his match with Jon Moxley at All Out
These actions then led to (1) a match that saw the crowning of new AEW World Trios champions and (2) a short tournament that will see a new AEW World Heavyweight Champion crowned at AEW Grand Slam Dynamite on September 21, 2022; the semi-finals are set with matches from this week’s AEW Dynamite and Rampage results.
However, while MJF did speak at AEW Dynamite 9/7/22 it was sadly overshadowed by all that.

I’m still intrigued by MJF’s return and what’s next for the “Joker” who has a shot at whomever ends up the AEW World Heavyweight Champion after September 21, 2022.
MJF’s talent will tested in these unusual times.
