Spoilers and Review:
The book opens with a dramatis personae for the core members of the super-hero teams that are taking part:
- Avengers
- Multiversal Avengers aka Avengers Forever
- Prehistoric Avengers aka Avengers 1,000,000 B.C.
Plus the villainous team of the series:
- Multiversal Masters of Evil
As long as a mysterious super-hero referred to as:
- Avenger Prime
The villain and his team this missing from this cast listing are:
- Mephisto
- Multiversal Council of Red
That omission proves important.
As Avengers Prime, yet-to-be-revealed, tangles with said villain.
Mephisto knows who Avengers Prime is and meets him 1,000,000 BC.
Elsewhere, the modern-day Avengers are in the past too.
Confronted by the Avengers 1,000,000 BC/
Naturally, a battle ensues.
However, as they realize they shouldn’t fight each other, Mephisto and the Council of Red subdue Avenger Prime.
The Avengers vs. Prehistoric Avengers battle is dying out.
Not before Avengers 1,000,000 BC’s Odin’s hammer Mjolnir collides with his modern-day son Thor’s Mjolnir?!
That leaves both teams down, except for Agamotto the prehistoric Doctor Strange, and ripe for an attack by the Doom Supreme and the Multiversal Masters of Evil.
Doom Supreme actually cuts out Agamotto’s eyes, both, in gory fashion during their battle!
In fact, Doom Supreme easily defeats and genetically modifies the hulking prehistoric Starbrand.
Doom Supreme is finally joined by his Multiversal Masters of Evil teammates to confront a now allied modern-day Avengers and prehistoric Avengers.
Mephisto, the “main” one from the core Earth 616 of Marvel, and the Council of Red, are ready to have the Prime Avenger witness the fall of Earth 616.
It also involves them take on and taking of the Multiversal Avengers Forever.
These Avengers are attacked by the Council of Red.
However, their powerful ace, their Prime Ghost Rider in Robbie Reyes for some reason is unable to change into the All-Rider?!

An Avengers Assemble checklist for the 10-part event is below.
The Pulse:
A lot of moving pieces plot wise, a lot of characters to keep track of, but an intriguing opening issue that sets up the Avengers Assemble event. A bit unbalanced tone-wise, but with flashes of satisfying action. 7 out of 10.
