Amazing Spider-Man #16 Spoilers and Review.
We start to see why Chasm aka Ben Reilly, a clone of Peter Parker, fka Scarlet Spider, is acting villainy.
It seems that chemicals he fell into or perhaps something or someone else, Madelyne Pryor aka Goblin Queen, has manipulated his memories.
Peter disagrees with Ben on how his memory was lost, but not avail.
During the battle, Chasm reveals that his Spidey Sense can be active and not just reactive like Spider-Man’s.
Plus the chemicals have also given him powers that allow not only to create webs, but also form shapes that can be weaponized.
Elsewhere, Madelyne Pryor and Hallows’ Eve aka Janine Godbe, Ben Reilly’s Girlfriend, are scheming with a now dumbed-down Venom aka Eddie Brock.
Chasm has all the power, but none of the responsibility that Spider-Man ascribes too.
He also start to see how Hallows’ Eve mask powers work.
Venom is their X-Men distraction it would seem.
Chasm also plans to use something called a Humdinger against Spider-Man.
It appears like it will impale Spider-Man, but it swerves Spider-Man and readers.
It reveals that J. Jonah Jameson and Robbie Robertson, close colleagues and friends of Peter Parker, have been kidnapped and trapped in Limbo.
Spider-Man unmasks and wants to go to Limbo to save them which please Chasm as he has to want to go to Limbo to go there.
An unnamed monster takes Peter Parker to Limbo and an unusual fate.
Another action-packed, emotional rollercoaster, rendered beautifully. Madelyne Pryor, Hallows’ Eve and Venom seem like afterthoughts though. 8 out of 10.
