Heartless has caused a jail break and he and his new allies are running roughshod over Blüdhaven.
Enter the Titans to help their friend and colleague.
Heartless is particularly interested in escaped inmate Tony Zucco the man who killed Dick Grayson’s parents and who is the father of the current Blüdhaven mayor Melinda Zucco who is also Nightwing half sister.
Nightwing confronts Heartless and the elder Zucco, but has KGBeast in turn confront Nightwing at Heartless’ behest.
The Titans with Nightwing foil Heartless and KGBeast’s plans, but Heartless escapes with ominous warning for Dick Grayson.
The book’s concluding chapter sees two-thirds of DC’s and the Justice League’s trinity – Wonder Woman and Superman – meet with Nightwing at the post Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths remains of the Hall of Justice.
They think its time for Nightwing to step-up and lead while they figure out what’s next for the Justice League.
They trust him with this responsibility and he’s flattered and overwhelmed in equal measure.
He meets with the last third of the Trinity, his mentor Batman, to discuss the offer.
They have an emotional heart-to-heart concluding with Nightwing / Dick Grayson embracing his acknowledged dad Batman / Bruce Wayne.
The book ends with the world’s New Guardians being revealed from their Blüdhaven HQ.
The Titans are the new top super-hero team in the Dawn of DC era.

Very cool to see artists from past Nightwing series jump on board with the current creative team. The Heartless story continues as does a new Dawn of DC status quo for the Titans. An action-packed and emotional issue at times. Entertaining. 8 out of 10.
