The Flash: One Minute War Special #1 Spoilers and Review.
The book opens in the past.
On an alien world in a story told by Vel Anthro.
It looks like he has gained super-speed powers, by becoming an Artifical Conduit into the Speed Force it would appear, by his Empress to impress his Empress.
Impress the Empress by creating more artifical conduits into the Speed Force.
However, the planet’s appetite grew too big.
Vel Anthro, now known as the Admiral, proposed conquering worlds and stealing their resources and, if successful, he would get the Empress’ hand in marriage.
The Empress agreed.
We then see the Admiral do what he promised to do.
The latest world is Earth.
The Admiral’s Fraction are attacking the world at super-speed, but they are opposed.
Modern day opposition comes from speedster villain Godspeed.
Then we pivot to the future which feels like the present (so not far into the future?).
Featuring Surge the son of the Wally West Flash.
The threat of the Fraction means finding allies by moving between the Multiverse and Hypertime or something.
A future female Flash and Surge, while in the midst of battle, get an assist.
From the girl that puts the “hyper” in Hypertime (her own words).
The time master Gold Beetle!
She recognizes Surge.
Looks like they have a relationship the future, but for the Gold Beetle the future can be now.
The Fraction’s One Minute War on Earth has begun and its looks like we’ll have some cool super co-stars in the Flash series.
The war continues in The Flash #792 in stores on February 7, 2023, but this event didn’t begin with this one-shot, but in The Flash #790 and #791 both in stores now with the latter, The Flash #791, seeing the debut of Miss Murder on the side of the Admiral and the Fraction.
The Pulse:
Glad to get the backstory of the Admiral and the Fraction. Very cool seeing the return of the Gold Beetle. This One Minute War feels epic. Ok art. 7 out of 10.
