Lazarus Planet: Next Evolution #1 Spoilers and Review.
The first story features a team called The Vigil.
Red Hood seems to unknowingly get entangled in their affairs.
Their graffiti marks a ship he is investigating and chasing a perp on.
He encounters The Vigil and sees how some of their powers work.
We’re promised more from this team during Dawn of DC.
Next up is Flatline.
Former sidekick of Lord Death Man and (former?) flame of Robin (Damian Wayne).
She opens a magical urn that appears to release Ra’s Al Ghul.
The concluding page includes teases of more to come including Ra’s daughter, who took over his criminal enterprise(s) upon his death, Talia Al Ghul.
Then we have Dead Eye who may have some mystical powers.
A character on his surface that can be dismissed as a derivative Deadshot, but there’s more to Dead Eye than meets the eye (pun intended and apologies).
He’s also affiliated with Amanda Waller, still on Earth 3, and he’s being hunted by a being called Everyman.
During the battle something mystical happens unexpectedly that changes Dead Eye or evolves him.
During the fight with Everyman he too evolves into the Amalgam Man.
However, it turns out that Amanda Waller sent this being to tangle with Dead Eye to test him and the upper limits of his powers.
Waller wants the Amalgam Man dead now, but Dead Eye does not oblige.
Then there is Red Canary.
A new teen character teaming with Black Canary and to be featured in the new Green Arrow series, debuting in April 2023, as part of Dawn of DC.
Well, life is tough for this teenage super-heroine and she teams up with Sideways to deal with the odd threat.
An odd, but fun threat?
The team-up ends with the good gal and good guy winning, but more teased for Red Canary at least.

The Lazarus Planet Checklist identifies what other tie-in’s are to come in the event.
There is also this Lazarus Planet checklist that shows where each title in the event occurs on Earth.
The Pulse.
A mixed bag of stories for a mixed bag of characters. The Vigil is the least formed while Deadline and Red Canary, who have been around a bit longer, get more meat on the bone characters-wise. While Dead Eye is net new and somewhat intriguing. The art teams were paired well with the respective stories. Overall, as noted, a mixed bag of an issue. 4.5 out of 10.
