Stargirl: The Lost Children #4 Spoilers and Review.
The book opens with kid Time Master Corky Baxter explaining the cosmic state of DC.
All the problems we’re experiencing now all stem from the Barry Allen Flash’s time-tinkering in Flashpoint.
We then get a succinct recap of events Flashpoint and Doomsday Clock and how they connect to the now.
As well as a bit more on the Divine Continuum that makes the DC cosmology make sense in terms of time and space.
It’s a story Baxter is telling the Lost Children, child sidekicks of yesteryear, that have been forgotten and captured by the Childminder in service of someone called the Foster Father.
The recent Flashpoint Beyond series exacerbated the problems of the now, but we learn that the Childminder is one of several Time Scavengers roaming the Omniverse and Hypertime or just the latter.
We learn that the Flashpoint Batman’s Flashpoint Beyond shenanigans, particularly the theft of a Time Masters time device, as well as the Flashpoint machinations of the Barry Allen Flash, led to the disappearance of The Thirteen the bulk of whom are these Lost Children Sidekicks.
We learn that the Time Masters tried to save these Lost Children as time rewrote itself due to the actions of Flashpoint and the tinkering by the Watchmen’s Doctor Manhattan in Doomsday Clock.
The Time Masters, including Corky Baxter, know the past, present and future of the Lost Children, but can only restore their timelines and not change them.
We pivot the Childminder who still has some captive sidekicks including the Secret of Young Justice, Red Arrow as well as the Boom, Judy Garrick, the speedster daughter of the Golden Age Flash Jay Garrick.
Stargirl, Baxter and the Lost Children descend on Childminder’s lair and go into war with her mechanical minders.
The Childminder needs the Boom’s speed to bring the Foster Father into the now so Red Arrow convinces her to give the Childminder more power and speed than she can handle!
Well, it seems that the DC One Million’s Hourman appears as a result.
Who’s Who is the Foster Father?
The Pulse.
The best issue so far despite the opening exposition attempting to explain how time and space work in DC. Lost of cool character moments and action including a wild cliffhanger page. Awesome art too. A very entertaining read. 8.5 out of 10.
