King Fire Bull (son) vs. Nezha (father) with DC’s super-heroes stuck in the middle.
The Monkey Prince plays an oversized role in saving Black Alice from King Fire Bull.
However, Monkey Prince, Robin (Damian Wayne) and the mystical super-heroes won’t need to deal with the powerful King Fire Bull alone.
The heavy hitters that used to make-up the Justice League, as there is no longer a Justice League after Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, do join the fray.
However, King Fire Bull can harness the Lazarus Rains and convert them to Lazarus Lightning?!
That Lazarus Lightning makes the super-heroes super-powers go haywire (temporarily) even bequeathing powers (temporarily) to the non-powered types like Robin.
Black Alice is able to free the Spectre which turns out to be a game changer.
However, Black Alice is no slouch in the mystical super-powers department either.
That catches the attention of Batman, possessed by Nezha, as well as King Fire Bull.
However, the mystical super-heroes unite to take on them on.
The Spectre plays a huge role in depowering and capturing King Fire Bull and seemingly exorcizing Nezha from Batman.
Looks like things have gone back to normal, but curious how many new super-heroes aor super-villains were created and retained after the Lazarus Rains across the globe.
I’m curious as to what’s next for Black Alice who had a large role in the Alpha and Omega issues as Dawn of DC is upon us.
Robin is reunited with his father Batman to end the issue.
However, while this is the issue’s end, the story continues in the finale of the mini-series Batman vs. Robin #5 which is in stores on February 28, 2023 and is billed as a Lazarus Planet Epilogue.
However, that’s not all for Lazarus Planet: Omega #1.
The back-up tale continues to tell the origins of Nezha and his son King Fire Bull before they were enemies.
It involves Darkseid and Nezha’s hunger for power that seemingly led to the death of King Fire Bull’s biological parents.
Nezha reveals himself as the boy attacks him.
Darkseid wants to see no more of this as he has grown bored.
We then see the boy become King Fire Bull as the back-up story seems to lead into the final issue of the Monkey Prince series in Monkey Prince #12 on shelves March 7, 2023.

The Lazarus Planet Checklist reveals what other tie-in’s are to come in the event despite this being an “omega” issue.
Beyond the two issues I previewed above, Batman Vs. Robin #5 and Monkey Prince #12, the Lazarus Planet Epilogue(s) stretch into March 2023 and April 2023.
So, six more books.
One is a four issue mini-series, shipped over two months, while the other two issues are part of Wonder Woman’s core series as it marches to June 2023’s Wonder Woman #800 milestone.
The Pulse.
A mixed bag of an issue purported to be the event of an event that, by the company’s own checklist, technically ends in two months. Solid art, but a jumbled story. The Lazarus Rains and new meta-humans has potential, but the battle between demon son and father was not as compelling as DC had hoped. Probably because both characters are relatively new with no real connection to the readers or an awareness by them of their importance. This whole event felt forced and unimportant despite the Lazarus Rains angle showing potential. Strongest part of this issue was the art on the main story. The back-up tale was more compelling story-wise, but also leads into another title; the final issue of another series in Monkey Prince #12. Overall, the event, it’s one-shots and this issue were generally lackluster. This issue gets a 4 out of 10.
