There’s A LOT more to the issue than the two-page end-of-issue Dawn of DC event tease.
Superman’s first foil of this new era is Livewire and she’s easily taken down.
We then meet the new Metropolis Special Crimes Unit Chief Neo Kekoa as Maggie Sawyer has long departed Metropolis and is Blüdhaven’s top cop.
Looks like Lois Lane is the new Editor-In-Chief of the Daily Planet multi-media news empire while Perry White is healing on sabbatical.
Later, Lois Lane and her husband Clark Kent reflect on the past as the present requires Clark to be Superman.
Nanotech has changed Lexcorp to Supercorp.
This bold move was to get his attention as Mercy Graves notes.
However, it is more than a stunt.
It is genuine as Lex Luthor has turned his company over to Superman to do good while he is in jail despite Superman turning the offer down.
There’s a full team to support Superman’s efforts including Mercy Graves.
There’s even a Lex Luthor hologram modeled on Superman’s Kryptonian fathr Jor-El as bit of an indignity, but not to blunt the business turnover.
Superman is racing to Lex Luthor in prison, but is confronted by the Parasite or Parasites?!
Lex Luthor believes Superman will accept Supercorp as he will want to protect Metropolis from LL’s own rogues?!
A mix of new and classic villains to come.

The Pulse.
A dynamic and action-packed issue with equal helpings of emotion and character moments. An intrigued by the premise of the new series that Superman must fight Lex Luthor’s foes or at least protect Metropolis and the world from them. Supercorp as a name has some growing to do on me. The art was also equal to the epic story. A really well done kick off issue with none of the slowness that can happen with debut issue in terms of set-up that tends to be more exposition based nowadays across comic book companies. An entertaining, satisfying and intriguing read. This book gets my highest recommendation. I don’t usually give 10’s, but this is the closest I can give. 9.5 out of 10.
