We open with the storyline catch-up page as the mystery has been going on for 21 issues and serves as a good recap for newer and tenured series readers.
In modern day, the Scribble Man is back, prompting Mary Jane and Peter to connect over the threat that even Paul is looped in on.
We then pivot to one year ago.
We meet the Scribble Man in Ryker’s Island.
He needs another sacrifice and he has a willing inmate offering.
That sacrifice is used for the Scribble Man to target a then happy coupled Mary Jane and Peter as seen in the pages of the Amazing Spider-Man #894 and the 2022 finale of the Beyond arc.
Apparently, they have met even before a year ago?! More on that shortly.
A battle ensues and Peter Parker in civilian clothes isn’t enough.
Peter Parker in Spider-Man gear may not be enough either.
Apparently, this all ties back to the Brand New Day storyline from 2008 specifically an arc that began in Amazing Spider-Man #555.
