The main story is called “Whatever Happened To The Warrior Of Truth?” which will not be collected following in the footsteps of Superman’s “Whatever Happened To The Man of Tomorrow?” a story told in September 1986’s Superman #423 and Action Comics #583 which were also collected.

That marked the end of the Silver Age and beginning of a new age for Superman ushered in my John Byrne’s Man of Steel.

That original farewell story inspired “Whatever Happened To The Caped Crusader?” in April 2009’s Batman #686 and Detective Comics #853 which were naturally collected.

In that same tradition, although set in modern times and not as a “last of an era” story, Wonder Woman’s “Whatever Happened To The Warrior Of Truth?” is also told over two issues in May 2023’s Wonder Woman #799 and June 2023’s Wonder Woman #800 and is expected to be collected soon.

After a mysterious Amazonian is accused of mass murder, Congress passes the Amazon Safety Act, barring all Amazons from U.S. soil. To carry out their plans, the government starts a task force, the Amazon Extradition Entity (A.X.E.), to remove those who don’t comply, by any means necessary. Now, in her search for the truth behind the killing, Wonder Woman finds herself an outlaw in the world she once swore to protect!
Writer Tom King (Batman, Mister Miracle, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow) and superstar artist in the making Daniel Sampere (Dark Crisis, Action Comics) join forces for this action-packed relaunch and the beginning of what will undoubtedly become a groundbreaking run on the character.

The Pulse.

I didn’t enjoy the main story “Whatever Happened To The Warrior Of Truth?” that marked the end of Wonder Woman volume 5, but did enjoy the back-up story that leads into the WW volume 6 series and features Wonder Woman’s delighter Trinity. Due to the mixed perspective or main and back-up story, I’ll forgo a rating, but encourage you to read the back-up if this milestone issue happens to get in your hands.
