We’re only a day away from the 40th anniversary of the Day of the Dead’s theatrical release and the news has hit that the original film elements have been uncovered. George Romero’s third entry in his Dead series has risen in status over the decades. Recently it found new fans when it ran on MeTV’s House of Svengoolie. Even more will be able to enjoy the movie about humanity surviving in a time when the dead rise up with the upcoming 4K transfers. Here’s the press release from Scream Factory:

Details on a brand-new Scream Factory 4K UHD restoration will be coming soon.
This long-awaited discovery marks an exciting new chapter in the film’s legacy, just in time for its milestone anniversary. As Romero’s chilling vision turns 40, Scream Factory is proud to honor its legacy with the care and craftsmanship it has long deserved.
