During the ’70s, Dutch filmmakers Wim Verstappen and Pim de la Parra teamed up to form the influential Scorpio Films. The studio didn’t last too long. Wim Verstappen’s final film under the banner is Dakota. The film is about a pilot who lives to fly in his aging plane. The movie comes out on Blu-ray and DVD in September. Here’s the press release from Cult Epics:

Cult Epics presents Wim Verstappen’s: DAKOTA
“A Film about the best thing there is: A man and his plane.”
Premiere on Blu-ray & DVD September 16, 2025

A Dutch pilot (Blue Movie’s Kees Brusse) with a real passion for flying risks everything to keep his DC3/Dakota plane in the air when getting involved with contraband. Attention to flight detail and the beautiful backdrop of the Caribbean and co-stars Monique van de Ven (Turkish Delight) and Willeke van Ammelrooy (Frank & Eva) make this seldom seen much loved Dutch classic worth watching.
DAKOTA, the last Scorpio film directed by Wim Verstappen (Pastorale 1943) with cinematography by Jan de Bont and Theo van de Sande, was recently rediscovered as a Dutch masterwork of cinema and is now available for the first time on Blu-ray and DVD.
