DVD Review: More, More, More – Andrea True Collection

DVD Reviews, Reviews, Top Story

Andrea True might be the most popular name in adult movies from the ’70s although not from her work inside the industry. Her name is probably mentioned 100s of times a day thanks to radio stations the love to play dance music. The story goes that Andrea True had gone to Jamaica to act in local commercials, but discovered she couldn’t bring home the cash she had been paid. She used the money to rent time at a recording studio and hire local musicians since she could come back to America with her master tape. This proved to be a wise choice since the song “More, More, More” became a massive hit on radio stations and discos when it was released in 1976. The Andrea True Connection was everywhere as the song soared to #4 on the American Top 40. She wasn’t a one hit wonder since a year later she was in the Top 30 with “N.Y., You Got Me Dancing.” Casey Kasem said her name a lot. She proved to be a household name without it being from houses near the erotic cinema marquee. If you’ve ever been curious about Andrea True’s film career, More More More – Andrea True Collection contains two of her biggest films and a “best of” highlight film.

Devil’s Due (1973 – 77 minutes) was shot in New York City and features footage around Central Park before arriving at West Central University. Cindy reads her Valedictorian speech to the Dean. He enjoys it so much, he breaks out the wine hidden in his filing cabinet. But he doesn’t count on just the wine getting her buzzed. He slips in something special. She can’t resist his hands all over her. After it’s over; he warns her that if she reports this, he’ll claim this is what she did to get her lofty honor. Cindy swears the devil will have his due. Her friend shares a similar story about the dean and her. Two other shocking things happen that turn Cindy mute. She flees to New York City and rents a room in an apartment for $100 a month. Turns out her new roomie (Andrea True) is a Satanist and she works for the local devil cult. Cindy ends up joining for their next ceremony. Living in Manhattan for $100 a month is so worth embracing the Dark Lord. Will she get her voice back? This one gets pretty rough in the plot with elements that would get your video banned from 21st Century adult streaming sites.

Meatball (1972 – 69 minutes) has a mad scientist (Harry Reams) pushing food technology. His impatient nurse (Andrea True) who drinks his latest liquid experiment. Turns out it’s just bad coffee. Later he eats a different experiment involving artificial hamburger that’s intended to solve world hunger. The nurse discovers a side effect of the new meat on the doctor. Eventually a lot of people drop by the lab to be part of the great experiment. It’s a goofy comedy. Al Goldstein has a cameo along with sharks. So far fake meat in the 2st Century hasn’t turned out like this.

Sweet Wet Lips (1977 – 61 minutes) opens with a couple getting freaky when Andrea True’s music comes on the radio. They discuss the adult films they’d seen starring Andrea True. This leads to a clip show from her early movies. One scene involving Andrea True chewing gum in a beauty saloon and blowing bubbles at odd times. Later there’s a scene with Jaime Gillis that’s part hostage taking. The film eliminates all the acting and plot outside of the couple waxing about the Disco Queen’s previous ways to get people moving. This film got people understand what Andrea True was singing about in “More, More, More.”

The impact of Andrea True can be felt in how hundreds of adult cinema stars have felt they can also have a career in music. This is what gets spoofed in Boogie Nights when they are recording the song from Transformers. But only Andrea True truly made the transition so far. More More More – Andrea True Collection gives us all the more you need.

The Video is 1.33:1 full frame. The movies were scanned in 4K so you see a lot of detail on the screen. Be warned that these are people in the early ’70s. While the prints aren’t in the greatest of shapes, they look probably as good as when they ran at your local adult theater in the late ’70s. The Audio is Dolby Digital 2.0.
