During the ’70s, movie theaters were losing serious ground to television in Italy. The cinema culture that had people enjoying dinner outdoors on the sidewalk and hit a fresh movie had retreated home. The exploitation filmmakers had to up their game to provide the kind of subject matter that a television station dare not broadcast. One of the genres that was spawned during this era was kinky World War II films (I can’t use the real word since Google will bury this preview). Producers were able to find uniforms, props and even authentic vehicles in abundance from when the war films were in vogue. They then went complete freaky mixing immoral experiments with sadistic carnal activities inside variations of a POW camp. SS Experiment Love Camp was nor merely a hit, but infamous once the movie was listed as on Great Brittain’s Video Nasty List. This meant rental shops couldn’t put it on the shelf. Now you don’t have to worry about tracking down a worn-out contraband VHS tape since 88 Films will be releasing the film on 4K UHD and Blu-ray in October. You’ll see all the outrageous and disturbing details of what went on inside SS Experiment Love Camp. Here’s the press release from 88 Films:

SS Experiment Love Camp
Legendary Shocker Also Arrives on Blu-ray
10/14/25

On October 14th, 88 Films presents the global 4K UHD debut of the World War II exploitation cult classic SS Experiment Love Camp. The release features a new 4K remaster from the original negatives and comes loaded with bonus content. The set includes both the 4K UHD and Blu-ray, with a standalone Blu-ray version also available.
During WWII, a prison camp in Germany doubles as a human research laboratory run by unethical scientists. The female political prisoners are being used as human guinea pigs for twisted biological and fertility experiments. Colonel von Kleiben (Giorgio Cerioni, La Cage Aux Folles II) oversees an experimental transplant operation so he can recover from a significant war wound received on the Russian front. Can these diabolical scientists achieve their intended breakthroughs before the war comes to an end?
Directed by Sergio Garrone (Kill Django… Kill First), the Italian production became infamous during the golden age of ‘70s exploitation cinema for its disturbing visuals. SS Experiment Love Camp gained further notoriety in the ‘80s as part of the banned “Video Nasties” in the United Kingdom.
The special features include an audio commentary by Italian cinema experts Eugenio Ercolani and Nanni Cobretti; interviews with director Sergio Garrone, editor Eugenio Alabiso, cinematographer Maurizio Centini and music historian Pierpaolo De Sanctis; Italian opening and closing titles; and the original trailer. First pressings also come housed in a double-walled slipcase featuring artwork by Joel Robinson, along with an illustrated booklet featuring new writing by Tim Murray and Rachel Nesbit.
