We’re deep into Spooky Season. If your area is like mine, there’s one house on the block who have converted their front yard into a massive tribute to Halloween. They’ve busted out the 12-foot skeleton, illuminated ghosts and other creatures that go bump on their lawn. Some folks and little children might think it’s impressive. But are they really that amazing for the holiday season? Screamityville will give you an idea at how extreme people will go to cover every inch of the front yard with tricks and treats for people to see. The people in the movie didn’t merely buy a few decorations from Spirit Halloween or a hardware store. They went all out to make their curb appeal something to fear.
Screamityville features no pesky host or house owners being interviewed about how they decorated their lawn or what Halloween means to them. This is all about the elaborate decorations. It’s as if you’re on a tour of a neighborhood that goes all out for Halloween. One house after the next appears on screen doing their best to stand out with something horrifying and not completely store bought. Jack-O-Lanterns hanging from trees like apples. King Kong rises from a lawn with other massive insects. There’s a yard covered in creepy clowns. One house is dedicated to Stranger Things. A demonic interpretation of Christmas means that neighbor won’t be taking down the decorations until New Year’s Day. The cinematography captures the whole of the lawn to give you the grand view before cutting into the spookiest decorations.
Screamityville can be watched in a few ways. The first is to just enjoy the views so you don’t have to go driving around your town for hours looking for a few choice yards. This is the perfect video to put on your TV set for a Halloween themed party. You can also receive plenty of inspiration of effects you’d want to duplicate at home to scare the Trick or Treaters. Do you want to set up a giant praying mantis next to your “Take One” bowl? Although the best thing you can do is set up a giant movie screen on your front lawn and project Screamityville at night to startle the neighbors. This way you can provide every fright of the night and have an easy clean up on November 1.

The Video is 1.78:1 anamorphic. They do a fine job at lighting these displays in the middle of the night so they don’t appear grainy and still look nocturnally scary. The Audio is Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo. There’s not talking just a lot of creepy sounds and music that adds to the tour. There’s no subtitles since there’s no talking.
No bonus features.
