A good title can make a film a cult sensation without even seeing a frame of the actual movie. Our imagination locks in on the words until we have to track down the film and see if it lives up to the madness in our head. Blood Bitch Baby is a perfect example of one that read the name without looking at the trailer. Although it helped that it starred Jess Jupiter Flux who is a Queen of Lo Fi horror.
The film opens with Jessa Jupiter Flux giving a brief history of Countess Elizabeth Bathory. She questions if this gruesome royal is still alive thanks to bathing in the blood of virgins. This is good so we all are clued in on the historic figure at the center of the film. A woman leaving a late night movie finds herself being stalked by a POV camera. When she thinks she’s found safety, she’s kidnapped by a supernatural female figure and taken back to the movie theater. Blood drips from her attacker’s mouth onto her white tank top. The supernatural figure turns out to be Jenny (Angel Bradford), a sweet woman having a nightmare. She does have a strange sore on her stomach. Was this just a dream? Her man is angry and needs her to get a job that she’s interviewing for that day. The problem is that she’s interviewing for a gig with Elizabeth Bathory (Shark Exorcist 2 – Unholy Waters‘ Jessa Jupiter Flux). Jenny ignores the creepy guy near Bathory’s house. She lands the job of being the caretaker for Elizabeth’s sister who needs constant care and restraint. She’s extremely troubled. Even though Jenny finds the sister in a bathtub and eating raw meat, she seems down for the $25 an hour gig. But is it really worth it? How much more extreme will this job become? At the same time, a coroner has found another victim that looks like an elderly man, but turns out to be a 25-year-old guy. We quickly learn this is all linked.
Blood Bitch Baby delivers on the glorious title in the sense that there’s plenty of Blood. A few people qualifying for the middle word. As for the baby, I don’t want to spoil the film and what’s at center of this horrific madness. This is helped out with the lo fi horror feel of the movie that delivers on blood, exposing wardrobe and creepy effects. Jessa Flux once more proves to bring a cunning spirit to the screen. Blood Bitch Baby is a fun dark flick.

The Video is 1.78:1 anamorphic. The film was shot on video so the transfer looks fine. The Audio is LPCM 2.0 Stereo. Things sound good when they get disgusting on the screen.
