Pulse Wrestling WWE NXT Report: 05.10.2011 – William Regal, Jacob Novak, Byron Saxton, Conor O’Brian, Lucky Cannon, Titus O’Neil, Darren Young

Reviews, Shows, TV Shows

Welcome to the NXT Redemption recap, folks. Let’s get it rolling.

Theme song, crowd shots, and Todd Grisham wishes Will Regal a happy little birthday.

Stryker introduces Maryse, and we recap Kharma destroying her last week on Raw. Maryse introduces the rookies into the ring.

1.Byron Saxton (4 points)
2.Conor O’Brian (0 points)
3.Jacob Novak (6 points)
4.Lucky Cannon (0 points)
5.Titus O’Neil (13 points)
6.Darren Young (7 points)

We are introduced to the next challenge as well, which is basically an obstacle course. Titus O’Neil wins and gets 6 more points. O’Neil grabs the mic and points out that Hornswoggle isn’t on the stage and hasn’t been answering his calls (which makes me wonder how he would, with the whole “not being able to talk”). For some reason, he asks Todd Grisham where he is. Then, he aggressively questions Darren Young, citing the problems Young has had with ‘Swoggle in the past few weeks. O’Neil says he’s going the beat the answers out of Young.

Darren Young vs. Titus O’Neil

Oh, so, this is made into a match. Nice.

Young gets an early advantage with corner animosity. A shoulder block and clothesline later, and Young falls to the outside. Young tries to walk to the back, but O’Neil brings him back to the ring. Young tries a kick, but gets caught and eats a clothesline. O’Neil hits a corner clothesline, tries it again, but eats two boots. Young hits an armbreaker for a nearfall. Young locks in a modified wristlock, but gets sidewalk slammed for his troubles. O’Neil gets a nearfall. O’Neil whips Young to the corner, but misses a running splash. Young gets an armlock on O’Neil. Young breaks the hold, hits a hiptoss, a few fistdrops, and gets a nearfall. Young goes back to the armlock, but DAMN, O’Neil reverses it into an electric chair drop! Nice. O’Neil hits token offense and a powerslam for two. O’Neil misses with a boot, and Young gets the rollup for the pin? Really?

Winner: Darren Young via pinfall

Anti-climactic.

Backstage antics with Conor O’Brian and Kozlov, who tells his rookie he needs to work on bullocks? Hmm. They hiptoss each other for awhile. If Vince is dropping the “wrestling”, you would think the “entertainment” would be stepped up a bit.

Conor O’Brian vs. Byron Saxton

We recap last week’s ultimatum from Saxton to Yoshi.

Lock up leads to a takedown by O’Brian and a headlock. O’Brian gets a hammerlock and hits a few knees on Saxton’s shoulder. Nearfall for O’Brian. Saxton gets whipped, but fires back with a spinning back elbow, clothesline, and pinfall. Saxton gets a hammerlock on O’Brian, but is reversed into a drop toe hold. O’Brian gains momentum and works on Saxton’s left leg. Nearfall by O’Brian. Saxton leg is really getting worked on. Good psychology in this match. Basic, but effective. O’Brian gets a nearfall. He gets Saxton in a half/Indian-deathlock. Then, he turns it into a half-leg scissors. Saxton fights out and hits Paydirt on O’Brian. A few clotheslines and a modified Russian leg sweep.bulldog combo, and Saxton gets a nearfall. Saxton gets a flying clothesline from the second rope and gets the pin.

Winner: Byron Saxton via pinfall

Somewhat short, but still a good match.

Saxton grabs the mic and tells Tatsu that he’s doing this on his own, due to Yoshi’s distraction with Maryse. Saxton calls Yoshi stupid and tells him he doesn’t need him. Then, he rolls out of the ring.

Backstage antics with Lucky Cannon who tries to convince Maryse that he cares about her. He gives her a purse, which impresses the lady.

We recap Smackdown. A focus on both shows. I like this trend.

Promo for the upcoming Jacob Novak/ William Regal match. Really awesome promo. I recommend checking this out.

Jacob Novak vs. William Regal

JTG and Novak come out first. JTG grabs a mic and starts praising Novak, saying he represents the three S’s: Streets, Skills, and Son-of-a-bitch-does-that-white-guy-have-corn-rows? I mean style. JTG then rags on Nashville’s style and music. Looks like someone’s adding to the unnecessary heel turn list. Regal comes out to a pop.

We start as Regal gets a headlock on Novak, who reverses it into a hammerlock. Novak gets whipped and thrown outside of the ring. JTG goes to check on Novak, but gets his fingers stepped on by Regal. Classic. Novak gets to the apron, but gets thrown in by Regal. A few stomps and some corner chest smacks later, and Regal has control. He runs into Novak’s elbow, though, and rolls out of the ring. Ref distracted, and JTG hits a dropkick on Regal.

Commercial.

We’re back to Novak hitting a running corner splash on Regal for a nearfall. Novak gets a headlock, but gets pushed into the corner and elbowed in the back of the head. Regal tries to get some momentum, but eats a clothesline. Novak chokes Regal on the second rope, distracts the ref, and allows JTG to get a cheap shot in. Novak rolls up Regal for a nearfall. He gets in some token offense, but Regal fights back with some punches and knees. Regal rakes Novak’s eyes on the top rope. He then hits a headbutt and a few European uppercuts. He attempts a bodyslam, but Novak elbows Regal to gain the momentum. A few punches later, and Novak seems to be in control. But Regal catches a kick from Novak, takes him down, and locks in the Regal Stretch for the tap.

Winner: William Regal via submission

And that’s a wrap, folks. Well, not a rap, since Truth has gone heel. Wakka wakka.

Check out this week’s Kue’s Korner.

Peace.

I like my wrestling almost as much as I do my coffee. And I do love my coffee, as you can tell how much it's affected my skin tone.
