Marta Kauffman, co-creator of a little NBC comedy called “Friends,” is ready to get back into the television business, executive producing an untitled hour-long dramedy for The WB.
According to Hollywood Reporter, the Kauffman series is written by “Sex and the City” scribe Liz Tuccillo and will come to The WB from sibling studio Warner Bros TV. The pilot focuses on four adult sisters doing the usual career/romance/ friendship tango in New York. Kauffman will executive produce along with Steve Pearlman and Andrew Plotkin of Class IV Prods. Tuccillo will co-executive produce.
Past credits for Kauffman include writing on “Dream On” and producing “Veronica’s Closet” and “Jesse” for NBC.
In other pilot pick-up news, ABC is said to be eying two comedy pilots, an untitled offering from Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont (“Can’t Hardly Wait”) and another called “Adopted.”
The Kaplan/Elfont series, which the pair will write, direct and also executive produce, looks at thirtysomethings dating in Philadelphia. “Adopted” was written by actors Nat Faxon and Jim Rash and looks at a man who discovers he’s adopted and now has to deal with two mothers instead of just one.
