Well, since I’m sitting on my Lost recap for right now in anger (read the Lost recap later to figure out why), I bring you my flagship, incredibly early since I will be unavailable on Friday and Saturday watching the biggest North American professional wrestling tournament in the Ted Petty Invitational in Hammond, Indiana. But enough about my life, let’s get on with the…you know. Stuff.
Twins
This is the show that convinced me there was no way I could get around to watching EVERY new premiere, simply only those that interested me. I didn’t even get to the first commercial break of this show before I decided that it was nowhere near my time’s worth. Just plain dumb, as I can’t even pick moments to tell you guys how awful this show is. I hope it gets the axe with much quickness.
The War At Home
This is one really messed up family, but Married…With Children this is not. Michael Rappaport will never be Al Bundy, no matter how hard he or FOX tries to make it that way. The delivery of the show is a little strange, but easy to get into. I’ll try to keep with this show as much as I can, but if I miss out on it I won’t cry, because I don’t think it’s going to be a sitcom classic. Still, much better than Twins.
Rome
I can’t see myself even coming close to liking this show, since it appears that this show is a really, really long version of Gladiator, presented in the risque, strange way that HBO seems to deliver all of its shows. Packed with sex, baby. I stuck with this pilot as long as I could before I eventually realized that I don’t really dig shows like this and gave up on it. I’m sure Russell Crowe fans will love it.
Reunion
Holy crap, it’s David Fisher’s gay boyfriend! But this is the last black guy we’re going to see for awhile, I fear, as it gets a lot whiter outside with these six. From here, it’s 90210 for mystery fans, and I’m hooked. The concept is original, even though they have to rush through the rest of the year when the main story is over, and I’m definitely going to be sticking around for the duration of this show. The acting is pretty spot on, too.
Supernatural
Wow. What a pilot episode this was. I really love the character of Dean, and just this entire episode really had me hooked in. I wasn’t expecting much from this show, and I thought I was going to be out of it by the first commercial, but this is just a really enjoyable show that I feel is going to fall by the wayside, much like Miracles did last year (or was that two years ago)? Anyway, if they can get some good ratings, this show could create some very nice TV. This show really played to my television likes and did not do too much to my dislikes. Ever since South Park made a joke out of the “Dan? Good luck, buddy. Oh, and Steve! Don’t worry.” kind of thing, it’s gotten on my nerves when it keeps happening, but if people think that’s good writing, then I guess that’s Hollywood. Not surprised to see McG as an executive producer, given the music tie-ins EVERYWHERE.
Bones
I was just about ready to give up on this episode after they played Howie Day during a montage, but I held on as long as I could. I managed to get through this episode, even though they played Howie Day AGAIN. Seriously, how much more Howie Day do you need? Is this the theme for Bones? Anyway, the dude who played Angel whose last name I cannot spell was entertaining, but Bones is kind of an unappealing person, even though her supporting team is pretty badass. I’ll try to keep up with this, but I really don’t know if I can do that. Howie Day sucks. Period.

I almost completely forgot that I watched this episode, but watching it again reminds me of some good gags: The old man wanting a tricked out ice cream truck, Stewie and Adam West having a screaming contest, Brian having a conversation about wanting the ball with Lois, but the general story was completely forgettable and kinda creepy as most Brian/Lois love episodes are. Hurricane RuPaul is an ill-timed yet still okay joke.
American Dad
Not as good as the season premiere, but it was pretty funny with another editorial episode on censorship. Stan using his wife as a buffer was nice, as was the sex ed educational video, apparently taken from the same era as the Family Guy “Women In The Workplace” video.
Arrested Development
Very weird premiere episode as I forgot quite a bit of stuff from the last season finale, including George Sr. being in the Blue Man Group, which is always free publicity for those guys. “Maeby?” “Definitely.” is a wonderful line, and there are a lot of great running gags in this episode as well. It’s just a shame that it’s going to get murdered on Mondays against its competition.
A little bit of something for everyone. Unfortunately, since I’m on a somewhat limited time schedule, I can’t give you any jumping zones this week, as the review of the CHIKARA match is pushed back yet another week. Also, the fifth episode of Prison Break, My Name Is Earl, and other stuff can be expected next week. Right now, however, I have to prepare for my Lost recap as the download for that is almost over. Also, the Random ATHF Review will return next week.
