The Weekly Pulse: TV's Second Wife

Archive

Okay..I lied last week. The brackets for the NCAA Tournament didn’t come out last Sunday. They come out this week, two days from now. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t start March Madness off with a BANG last week. I watched plenty of college basketball and no doubt will spend the start of next week..filling out my many brackets! Respect the madness!

I finished up the first season of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ on DVD last week and I couldn’t believe that I actually DID remember some of the first season. How? I don’t know as I don’t remember watching the first season, but I guess I saw some of it in my sleep. After watching it, though, it only made me want to have season two come out on DVD tomorrow! That won’t happen since season two is not done yet. But I don’t remember the first part of this season as I only got to watching the show about 7 episodes into the second season. So I look forward to catching up and getting the whole picture. Just like I did with ‘The O.C.’, which was another show where I don’t remember watching the first season but somehow did remember parts of it. But getting the DVD and watching it through..that’s just good stuff. Thank you Mr. DVD!

I watched ‘The 2006 Oscars’ because there was nothing else on TV that night. Actually, I had TiVo record it for me while I went somewhere else. That way I could fast-forward through all the boring parts. Which was about everything except the Three Six Mafia winning an Academy Award for “Best Song”! WOW! Hustle & Flow is a great movie, so I’m glad it got some kind of recognition. Nothing else to say about that. Oh..I did see Crash and I’m glad it won “Best Picture”. I usually don’t see the movies that get nominated for that category, but I saw two this year. And I’m glad that a somewhat entertaining film, to me, won the award.

Nothing else to say..so lets just get this thing going. A look back at the week that was at IPTV!

Seinfeld Quote of the Week

“Unfortunately the immutable laws of physics contradict the whole premise of your account. Allow me to reconstruct this if I may for Miss Benes as I’ve heard this story a number of times. Newman, Kramer, if you’ll indulge me. According to your story, Keith passes you and starts walking up the ramp. Then you say you were struck on the right temple. The spit then proceeds to ricochet off the temple striking Newman between the third and fourth rib. The spit then came off the rib turned and hit Newman in the right wrist causing him to drop his baseball cap. The spit then splashed off the wrist, pauses –in mid air, mind you– makes a left turn and lands on Newman’s left thigh. That is one magic loogie.”Jerry

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming…

Columns a.k.a. We Still Rolling!!

Mathan Erhardt had a headache this week and wasn’t able to watch as much TV as he wanted to. So no ‘Lost’ or ’24’ for him this week. But he did watch ‘Hustle’, ‘Gilmore Girls’, ‘The Closer’, ‘Real Time With Bill Maher’, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘Free Ride’, ‘Scrubs’, ‘Boston Legal’, ‘Out of Order’, and ‘The Shield’! He also creates something called ‘Palzies’ and answers the question..”which cartoon universe would you want to be in?” Now would you like to be a patient at the ‘Scrubs’ hospital or the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ hospital? Answer that for him this week along with everything else!

Sarah Quigley breaks down the new season of ‘The Apprentice’. She tells you who she likes and other random thoughts on the show!

Matt Basilo had a LONG, but fun weekend. You got to love those. He also talks about ‘Lost’, ’24’, and ‘Survivor’. See why he thought this past episode of ‘Lost’ was his favorite so far!

Dora Malone says that the stuff has hit the fan. It has something to do with women on ‘Survivor’. What exactly? Read for yourself along with her rankings of the competitors!

DeeDee is in love with Chris Daughtry on ‘American Idol’ along with Ace Young. Can’t say that I blame her as they are the two best singers on this show. Read her thoughts on the show so far!

Farah Syed created some cds a long time ago. They have random video clips set to music. AWESOME! She found them the other day and hopes to “find” them again some day. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Then..you haven’t read it yet!

Kevin Wong talks about March Madness before I could. But he says everything that I would have said, but didn’t because he did. Make sense? Good. Read his thoughts on random shows he watched this week as well! That includes ‘Survivor’, of course.

Patrick Gilchriest liked the last episode of ‘Survivor’, especially who they got rid of! And he looks forward to the new episode this week as well. Check out all of his thoughts on the show!

Recaps a.k.a. Wait Until Next Week!!

John Duran recaps what many think is a great, great episode of ‘Lost’. Of course, I missed it!

Bob Reiss goes crazy and recaps FOUR episodes of ‘Battlestar Galactica’. Check out his recaps of episode #14, #15, #16, and #17! He also has the latest episode of ‘Survivor’ as well! Great going Bob!

Romo and Rob Purchase return again without Murtz to do a two-hour episode of ’24’!

I have three shows again this week. Scratch that. I did have three shows, but the recap of ‘The O.C.’ will have to wait until Monday as I’m going out of town this weekend. So you will get a LOT of me next week! Back to this week, though. It would have been four shows, but ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ was off for ‘The 2006 Oscars’! First off..I have more ‘Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Gauntlet II’ for you! Finally..I sub for Kevin again and do the Wednesday edition of ‘American Idol’!

Kevin Wong is just as busy as me. He had ‘The Amazing Race 9’ and the Tuesday edition of ‘American Idol’! Both on the same night! No wonder he needed a break on Wednesday.

Trevor MacKay checks back in with some more ‘Invasion’ for you! Was it any good?

Celebrities a.k.a. Eliza and That OTHER Guy!!

They missed the deadline this week, so I will have to get them next week! Maybe a double shot of them! Yay!

The Weekly Pulse Weekly Poll

Last week..I asked the question…”what do you think about gameshows?” And here are the results:

They’re ADDICTING! – 5
They’re just OKAY! – 4
Most of them SUCK! – 3
I NEVER watch them! – 0

It was a close race, but most people think they are addicting! Really..everyone has an opinion. But most people agree that ‘The Price is Right’ is the ULTIMATE gameshow and even a reason to be sick! I think I would have to agree.

Now for this week’s question. I want to know what you think about a certain show that I will be talking about later. So here is this week’s question…“what do you think about ‘The Real World’ on MTV?” Click on the link and VOTE! Remember..VOTE OR DIE!

Time to Talk a.k.a. Lets Get Real!!

I am going to talk about a show that no one else will probably talk about. Maybe it’s because it’s on cable. Or maybe people don’t take it seriously. But this show is in its 17th season! It’s a constant show on its network. It’s been around since the early 1990’s! It’s the original reality show. It’s ‘The Real World’ on MTV!

I don’t care who you are. If you are between the ages of 14 and 35..you have probably seen at least one episode of this show. It’s been on forever and I don’t see it stopping anytime soon. Why? I don’t know. It’s reality TV at its best.

This is the true story of seven strangers, who are picked to live in an AWESOME house somewhere, and have their lives taped. Find out what happens when people stop being polite and start being REAL! People have lived in New York City twice, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, London, Miami, Boston, Seattle, Hawaii, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Paris, San Diego, Philadelphia, Austin, and now Key West!

The show is a lot like ‘Big Brother’ before there was a ‘Big Brother’, except these people are not out to win any money. This is not a competition. It’s just life. No televisions or radios. Nothing to do inside the house except sit around and talk and be..REAL! So that means you get lots of drama, sex, and a little violence. What else could you ask for?

People may have grown tired of this show, but you can’t deny its influence. Almost every reality TV show has taken an element of ‘The Real World’ and added into its own show. It’s the originator. That may be the reason that some people may not watch it anymore. They have many more reality TV options. And some may have grown tired of ‘The Real World’ antics. I admit that there always seems to be the same things on each season. People go out and party. They dance and drink. They come back and fight or fight at the clubs. Either that or they have sex. Usually roommates like each other and things happen there. Sometimes you get emotional psychopaths who cause problems inside the house. They all go on a trip somewhere and usually someone goes to jail. Aw..but you have to love it!

If no one watched it anymore, then it wouldn’t be around. But it has just started its 17th season in Key West, FL and it looks to be just as good. Why? Because this season has the extra drama of mother nature. This cast went through ALL the hurricanes in Florida last year. So not only will you have drama within the house and drama with people outside of the house being jerks to the roommates, but you will also have mother nature trying to wreck havoc on the cast as well! That’s something that you don’t see every day.

Maybe I’m hyping up this show too much, but probably not. I’ve seen every season and I haven’t been disappointed. The way the cast interacts with each other is the best part. They usually pick the same types of people, but everyone’s personality is ALWAYS different. And the way they mix together or don’t is always fun to watch.

I admit..that I would like to be on the show. But it’s sad to me that I’m getting too old for the show. I will be 24 this year and that is close to the deadline. Oh well..I may never get to live in a mansion, but I could always watch the crazy antics of these youngsters!

That’s all I got this week. Any comments, questions, or suggestions are always welcome.

“Life Ain’t Always Beautiful, but It’s a Beautiful Ride!”

And as always remember…“You Can’t Fight Fate!”. See you next week!

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
