The Inside Pulse:
P!nk is back with her fourth album, I’m Not Dead , with what is becoming her signature sound: lyrics she isn’t afraid to write and perform with a underlying message and a no nonsense attitude. P!nk is growing as a artist with each album she releases and challenges the audience to grow with her. “Stupid Girls,” the first single and hit from I’m Not Dead Yet, has achieved a lot of attention for her music video in the last month becoming a hit on popular sites like youtube.com and myspace.com, parodying the pop music diva culture and challenging society to find better role models for women then the latest pop star.

Positives:
Well-written and well-produced from beginning to end, with her sound offering something for everyone from Pop to Rock and Soul. “Dear Mr. President,” featuring the Indigo Girls, is a incredibly honest and heartfelt ballad expressing the emotional impact of the differences of opinion in this country over lifestyles, the homeless, gender and economics. “Dear Mr. President” has every chance to be another top ten hit for P!nk, if radio will embrace it and take a chance on it’s message on the air waves. “I’m Not Dead” reminds me a lot of her friend Lisa Marie Presley’s latest album Now What, with poetic and beautifully dark lyrics such as: “I’m a winter flower underground always thirsty for summer rain / And just like the change of seasons / I know you’ll be back again.” “Go Away” is catchy and upbeat that it could end up being a summer ‘feel good, leave me the hell alone’ hit that only P!nk can get away with.

Negatives:
There are moments on this album when I feel that P!nk was influenced by Gwen Stefani‘s embrace of Pop music-radio friendly sound in Love. Angel. Music. Baby and I was not a fan of “Hollaback Girl.” However, all the tracks on I’m Not Dead do have a sense of purpose as a whole, because P!nk is always a artist and a individual first before she is a celebrity.

Cross-Breed:
Lisa Marie Presley, James Taylor, Linda Perry, Janis Joplin and Joan Jett.

Reasons to buy:
P!nk is one of the most true-to-herself, honest and self-deprecating at times artists in mainstream music. There’s nothing false about her albums, the listener is able to relate to her as well as understand that even though she is a celebrity, she’s still going to stand by music as a body of work, not just to achieve platinum records. I’m Not Dead is similar to M!ssundaztood, but the listener can definitely hear the growth of P!nk as a artist when writing “Conversations With My 13 Year Old Self” and “Long Way To Happy.” I’m Not Dead will please P!nk loyalists as well as garner a new respect for P!nk for those who somehow missed what P!nk was about. Just as P!nk says, I’m Not Dead , she has plenty of truths left to say.
